Chiropractic
Adjustment:
To remove interference from the nervous system,
Chiropractors gently adjust the vertebrae (spinal bones) into the
correct alignment, allowing the innate (inborn) ability of the body
to heal inself.
This is not the same as a manipulation. Chiropractic:
A primary health care profession devoted to the
removal of spinal nerve interference by correcting subluxations.
Disease:
A combination of dis- and ease, meaning a loss
of harmony in the system. Chiropractors believe that instead of
treating disease with drugs and surgery, that dis-ease should be
addressed by eliminating spinal nerve interference. This gives patients
the opportunity to heal from within naturally, by unleashing the
body's power to self-heal and self-regulate.
Health:
A state of optimal physical, mental, and social
well-being, not merely the absence of disease or infirmity (definition
from the World Health Organization).
Manipulation:
The forceful, passive movement of a joint beyond
its active limit of motion. It does not incorporate the intent of
removal of nerve interference to release the innate ability of the
body to heal itself.
A universal intelligence is in all matter and
continually gives to it all its properties and actions, thus maintaining
it in existence.
Vitalism:
The doctrine that teaches that in each living
organism, life is caused and sustained by a vital principle distinct
from all physical and chemical forces. It also teaches that life
is, at least in part, self-determining and self-evolving.
A misalignment of spinal vertebrae, which alters
nerve function and interference with the transmission of mental
impulses from the brain to the tissue cells. This reduces the body's
innate ability to express its maximum health potential. Also referred
to as spinal nerve interference.
